Have you signed into your Rafflecopter account recently? If you have, chances are you’ve noticed some changes. Today, you’ll have access to the new Rafflecopter admin dashboard redesign — the process of creating and launching your Rafflecopter giveaways just got a whole lot easier.

The Goals of the Redesign

Believe it or not, this is the first time the Rafflecopter admin dashboard has been fully overhauled since Rafflecopter launched into private alpha almost three years ago. So why the redesign now? Simply put: we needed some room to grow, and there’s a ton we want to improve. But as we built it, we held ourselves to the following rules to help ensure the change makes things better, not worse :)

  • You should see very little change in your day-to-day workflow. Despite the changes, the dashboard’s navigation will be familiar to power-users, and also easier for first-timers to get the hang of.
  • Things you do often should be more streamlined, and everything else should be out of your way until you need it. From improved organization to smoother navigation to faster load times, we worked on making sure you can do what you need to do quickly, and get on with life.
  • Tablets are the new PCs. They’re fantastic, so creating & managing giveaways should work great on them as well. We redesigned with tablets in mind, so feel free to work from your recliner ;)
  • There are some great things coming up around the bend (think expanded functionality & more ways to run giveaways). The new dashboard was designed to give us some space to grow and bring you much more awesomeness in the coming months. Stay tuned!

    Hi Chaps, where’s the duplicate option gone?

    Also, that cross top right of the completed comps is a bit dangerous. If it’s clicked accidentally before judging a comp, is there a way to get it back?

    Beautiful work Greg, it’s simple, elegant and minimalistic. When you guys designed this, did you make it primarily for a mobile design? I noticed that much of the design is compressed along the center of the screen. I think that on the left panel, where you’ve got the “VIP support”, you could do an RSS feed with the latest giveaways, this will encourage people to want to see demos and try out even the premium subscription. If you make use of the open space, like spontaneously add a video popup, or a slider on the bottom right, even on the right side (opposite of the VIP support), you could really make the backend more dynamic and not as plain. I understand that you chose a minimalist design to make it more streamlined, it’s losing a lot of potential to add more activity, dynamism. Great work though :)

    • Thanks for the good word! Certainly I can’t take the credit here… the rest of the team has been working hard in the months leading up to the release. We definitely put emphasis on the design for tablets, but I’m sure we’ll find a few areas for improvement as we go (especially in the first week of the new design in the wild).

      You’re right – I think as we go, you’ll start to see more features / improvements unfold, as the new dashboard was designed for us to add to it. Stay tuned!

  • LOVE the redesign from an aesthetic point of view. Might take a while to get used to the new layout and I agree with David S’s comment below about the X in the top right of the comps box – does that delete the comp? Didn’t want to click it to see what happened in case it did! Also if you want to make a change to a giveaway that’s in progress how do you do that? There used to be an edit option…

    • Since the old dashboard was there for three years, I thought I was going to miss it. Since we’ve been playing around w/ the new dashboard, I was surprised how quickly I got used to it. Hopefully you’ll have the same experience :)

      To edit you giveaway that’s currently running, you can hover over your giveaway’s card in the dashboard and click ‘setup’, or you can click the ‘setup’ tab on any of the giveaway’s pages.

        • You bet! It’s a screen capture software (gif creator) called LICEcap. Makes it easy to create those (and it’s fun, too!).

  • Loving the new layout, only took a few minutes to get used to it, and love having a bit of colour in the background to work with. However, when moderating a giveaway, I went to remove some entries using the Moderate Entries Snapshot table, and it won’t work.

    • Hey Ellie – thanks for stopping by! We’ve had a few other folks report that they’re having trouble removing entries as well. I let the rest of the team know and I’m sure they’ll have a look at it shortly :)

And great timing on the change – I’d just been drawing a bunch of winners for one giveaway and took a break for an hour to start on the next, and in that time the dashboard had updated! Thought it was going to impact my rhythm, but surprisingly, it was easy to adjust to the new layout. Kudos, team!

    I very
    much dislike the new design of the entry form. When you have many ways
    to enter, it opens at the bottom and you have to scroll down to enter,
    then scroll back up to go to the next task. People don’t realize the
    form is opening and think something is wrong and will leave the page.
    Annoying. You need to fix this right away or many people will move to
    different form generators.

    • Hey Toni – the Rafflecopter entry form widget’s design wasn’t changed with this release. The design of that has stayed fairly consistent the past 12-15 months.

        Then why would I be having a problem? When clicking the entry option, it opens the field at the bottom of the rafflecopter form, and not in the entry field itself. I am using Firefox and it has been fine until now? This is happening for my giveaway and all the others I try to enter using rafflecopter.

          Aha, they seem to have sorted it now. Was defo a Stylesheet problem across all forms.

    Love you guys and love rafflecopter, best giveaway idea ever. I remember entering all sweeps using comment entries and then you guys changed the whole thing and made it awesome. I am sure you’ll get the form fixed.

  • I don’t love that I can’t copy email addresses for the winner any more. I used to be able to highlight the email address and Ctrl+C to copy to email them. Can this be changed? The ease of notifying the winner was part of the reason we have been using Rafflecopter!

    I can’t paste and copy the name or email of my winners. I don’t use the email that is the default one on my computer so I have to paste and copy.

    I HATE THE NEW DESIGN- I have tried for 25 minutes to DUPLICATE a previous giveaway, so I don’t have to add in all the extra entries ALL over again, and it WILL NOT pull up the list of current active giveaways to duplicate? This is easier? NO WAY. I could duplicate and change out a previous giveaway in less than 4 minutes. I can’t even get it to pull UP the previous giveaway in 4 minutes. It may look better, but having to start ALL over on EVERY giveaway is not saving me time and leaves me wanting to LEAVE rafflecopter. PLEASE FIX

    • Hey Nicole – I’m sorry that the duplicate option ‘disappeared’ on you! Luckily, it’s still there, so you don’t have to start over…

      If you look at the giveaway you’d like to duplicate, you can click the “gear” in the top right to find the ‘duplicate’ option:

      That will let you duplicate any giveaway you’ve run before, so you don’t have to start over from scratch. Hopefully that helps!

        So I have to OPEN a previous entry, to duplicate it (adding an extra step from the prev design) ? It let me do it, but still see where this redesign is SLOWING me down, not making things quicker and easier. Just like no copy and paste on winners email? I use a form, and I need to be able to do that as well

  • I think the new look is pretty cool, but I’m having some functional issues. I have to delete some bad entries, but now when I check the box and click the “remove entries” button at the top, nothing happens. Is this a bug or am I supposed to do something differently?

    • Hey Julie! I think what you’re referring to is a bug on our end – we’ve had a few other folks report trouble deleting entries from the ‘remove entries’ button. We’ll be taking a look & fixing this very soon :)

    Looks great! I tried it out this morning.

    Is there a way I can copy the winner’s name? I have a separate Winners Page and I post the winner’s names on there. It wouldn’t let me copy it today.

    Please fix the feature where you can “Remove Winner” – It only has a “Disqualify this winner” button.

    • hey Suzanne – the ‘disqualify winner’ button functions the same as the ‘remove winner’ button did in the old dashboard… we only changed the copy. Hope that helps!

    When viewing a rafflecopter entry form on an iphone and needing to tap-paste a link into a entry field, the page scrolls to the top and I can’t keep the cursor in the field to paste the link. I’ve had this happen on multiple forms, usually ones that have a large number of entries available.
