In 2015, the Colorado Tourism Office was named the “Best U.S. State Tourism Bureau” in the nation” by the Travvy awards, an award that highlights the best of the best in the travel and tourism industry.
The Colorado Tourism Office not only focuses their marketing efforts domestically, they market internationally as well. Their website is translated into ten different languages. This helps fuel their constantly growing social following of almost 500,000 Facebook fans and 100,000 Twitter followers. Colorado.com is the official tourism website for the State of Colorado (and Rafflecopter’s home state!).
Leveraging Rafflecopter to promote their brand as well as other tourism offices within the state, the Colorado Tourism Office utilizes Rafflecopter as a tool that’s ingrained in their marketing strategy through running consistent giveaways on their Facebook page.
In February 2015, the Colorado Tourism Office ran a giveaway on their Facebook page giving away admission and lodging to a popular Hot Springs destination within the state. The prize, that’s extremely relevant to the states brand, along with with strategically utilized entry options, helped the promotion become one of the most successful giveaways the brand us run to date.
The promotion accumulated a total of 51,635 entries. Those entries helped expose the brand to 414,269 unique people during the promotion. Moreover, while the giveaway was running, the brand saw over 1k Facebook shares as well as over 13k new likes on Facebook.
“We love Rafflecopter because it allows us to create much more dynamic giveaways without the typical increase in cost and development time.”
Dave Fluegge, the Director Social and New Media for the state of Colorado, uses Rafflecopter because of the simple and easy setup to create powerful promotions with no IT department, developers, or designers required for any step of the giveaway.
Moving forward, the Colorado Tourism Office plans to incorporate consistent Rafflecopter giveaways into their marketing agenda to help maintain engagement of current followers and fans in addition to acquiring new visitors and converting them into brand advocates.
