Guitar Pro is consumer software geared towards multitrack editing of guitar and bass tablature and musical scores, it has a built-in editing tools, chord plotters, and other tools for guitarists and musicians. In addition to that, Guitar Pro has a suite of tools built for desktop, android and iOS devices that enables musicians of any skill level to learn, explore, and grow as artist.
The Prep
Guitar Pro sat down and decided exactly what they’d like to do with their giveaway. Their four main goals were:
- Engage the Guitar Pro community
- Drive traffic to the blog and website
- Collect email addresses
- Build up a qualified database of guitarists
To achieve this, Guitar Pro setup a very straightforward giveaway on a landing page on their website. The giveaway itself had two entry options: Email List Subscribe and Viral Refer-a-Friend. This allowed for a straightforward and simple means of entry as well as providing an unobtrusive way for entrants to share the giveaway with their friends for extra entries.
The giveaway that ran for 60 days had 31 prizes with a combined ARV of over $2200 (one of the prizes was a Fender guitar!). Due to the high ARV of the prizes, a large volume of new and current guitar pro subscribers flocked to the giveaway. This helped not only engage current users, but adopt and capture the email addresses of prospective musicians as well.
The Results
Throughout the duration of the giveaway, Guitar Pro saw over 60K website visitors to the landing page of the promotion. Furthermore, the giveaway that generated over 22,000 entries resulted in over 2,400 Facebook shares, over 1240 Facebook likes, and 150 comments correlated directly with the giveaway. Additionally, Guitar Pro had over 1,500 people tweet about the giveaway. Lastly, Guitar Pro experienced over 50% more engagement compared to their last giveaway that wasn’t ran through Rafflecopter.
Everyones users are different and although Guitar Pro had great success with these tactics, that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone’s audience will respond the same to these measures. However, having a high ARV of the giveaways prize, along with having the giveaway run for an extended duration, and creating measurable goals are things that Guitar Pro did that almost always increases engagement and performance when running a giveaway.
“Rafflecopter gave us all the features we needed, plus the assurance that a support staff would be ready to deal with any questions. Creating our first giveaway was quick and easy and we have enjoyed a system that is compatible with MailChimp and affordable.”
Adrien Fraboul, Communications Officer @ Guitar Pro
