Creating Custom Entry Options - Rafflecopter

With Rafflecopter, you’re given the ability to create custom entry options for your giveaways. And it’s really easy!

When creating your giveaway in your Rafflecopter dashboard, select the option ‘invent your own’, rename the title of the entry and add directions for your entrants to follow. To help you verify their entry when the giveaway is over, ask them to leave some information in the widget by selecting the “I need extra info to verify this entry” checkbox. All extra info can be accessed on the giveaway’s moderate page in your Rafflecopter dashboard.

    Is the “extra info” public or can only admins for the contest see that?

    • Only admins will be able to see that info. You can find it in the moderate page in the entry list – hope that helps!

  • Cool app! I see a point structure (+2 to do it) for answering a question, however, I don’t see a way to redeem/track these points, or set up an economy with them. Anything like that planned in the future?

    Running my first contest now.

    So, I’ve made ‘Blog Comment’ mandatory for this contest, but there is no way to ensure they leave a comment? Looks like the honor system…

    Also, they can sign in under facebook AND email and make multiple entries for both??

    Any advice on this? THANKS

    • Hey Jason – for the most part, yes. The blog comment is honor system. When they enter, you can match up entrants by name/email/timestamp. We recently wrote a blog post that describes the *most efficient way possible* to moderate entrants and choosing winners to your giveaways which make explain this a little better:

      Folks can sign into the widget via FB or name/email combo, but that’s just to sign in. Hope that helps!

      • I think Rafflecopter should make sure blog comments are done before awarding them a point entry for this feature? otherwise what are we paying the business plan for when no comments appear on blog but there’s hundreds of entries? we want to link back to our blog for giveaways.

    If we make email registration mandatory, how does Rafflecopter verify that has happened? Should we ask for their email address in the extra info verification field?

    • hey Kevin – that would be my best recommendation. if you’re able to download a list of your email list and verify the email they signed up with by having them leave it in the extra info field, it should be enough :)

        What if there are entrants who marked off that they commented on a blog and/or subscribed via email but upon review they didn’t. Since some of the entry methods are an honor system this is possible. Since we can’t manually select a winner is there a way to disqualify those who marked off they performed an entry activity when they didn’t?

    • Hy Jithin – there isn’t any way to announce a winner on the Rafflecopter widget w/o having that winner be chosen randomly.

    If I create a custom entry that requires the entrant to vote for something on a specific site where would I add that link? As of right now I added it below where it says, “I need extra info to verify this entry.” Is this the correct spot if not where?
    Also is there a way for us to preview what we have posted to see if it looks right before having it go live? If so, how?

  • Hello, Wondering if I can do a facebook giveaway that will end when my page obtains a certain number of ‘likes’ instead of an actual date/time deadline?

    • hey Tammy – you can start a giveaway after your page has reached a certain number of likes, but you cannot have a giveaway that ends after you hit a certain number. hope that helps!

    is there a way to compare answers?.. I mean.. we were thinking of running a giveaway that will use KEYWORDS .. so people can listen to them on the radio and then come to our page and input them on the GIVEAWAY widget..
    is there a way to do so??

    Can anyone on Facebook enter my giveaway…or must entrants “Like” my page by default in order to enter? I noticed there is an option to make “liking” a certain fb page mandatory for additional entry points. I’m not sure if this is referring to my fb page or additional, separate pages?

        i would love to know @stacyigel:disqus !! my link is not turning up as a link, just the address which they would have to cut and paste to actually get to my insta page. Too much work for the entrant!!!

      I’m trying to think of how to do this as well! Maybe give them you @username to follow… and for verification have them leave their @username … but someone could easily pretend to be someone else that’s already following you. I guess upload a specific giveaway photo and tell people to follow and then comment underneath it. And then they can send you their email address and @username … format it like (whatever@gmail.com/@instagramusername) …that way no one can fake it.
